A little history
In 2004, before there was an official presence of the Cannes Lions philosophy on the local communication market, Romania had two representatives at the festival that celebrates ideas, which takes place every year on the French Riviera and is dedicated to the communication community.
Starting in 2005, with the emergeance of the Cannes Lions promotion in Romania, the local marketing and communication community gained access to the standards of the most reputable event in the field. For those who like to excel, who acknowledge the importance of top-class education, Cannes Lions became the first priority. There were 38 representatives at Cannes in 2005. 40 in 2006. Twice as many in 2007, 80 representatives. And we won’t stop here.
We wanted an evolving community
The number of Romanians at the Riviera greatly increased, to the surprise of the London staff who see Romania as one of the best surprises at the moment in terms of delegates presence, especially in the young professional category.
But in Bucharest, being spectacular comes naturally, if you’re aware of the potential and desire to grow of all those who take the competition where they can prove their superiority at an almost personal level.
In 2008, before the middle and top management had the option of being educated locally, the elite presidents and HR people had on their agendas the avant-garde companies that had been present at Cannes. The large scale effect in the industry remains to be seen during the next five years, following the union of local elites with the global community of performers.
Hate something? Change something. Make something better*.
(*big thanks to Honda for the power of dreams)
This is how the Kindergarten came into being, as the first Alternative School for Creative Thinking. Its curriculum became increasingly more diverse, and the quality of its theoretical courses, as well as workshops, is constantly improving. Our teaching staff brings together some of the most interesting figures of the moment, both Romanian and
foreign.
The increase in the number of young creatives and students at the Cannes seminaries was also spectacular - from 2 to 18 in only 3 years (see www.gradinita.wordpress.com for more). And it’s only just starting.
Recognition
In 2008 we received the recognition in London, for having succeeded to make the link between the festival and its education value. The Alternative School for Creative Thinking was highly praised in Lions Daily and received the Global Super Achiever Award from the Indira Group of Institutes, India.
We are an elite structure, despite our miniature dimensions. We know what we want and where we’re headed. We couldn’t have made it, however, without the incredible support coming from visionary companies, who understood our effors and gave us more help than we could have dreamed of. They did it mostly for the benefit of the community. On the community’s behalf, for the time being, we will be the ones to say thank you.
